Ona-ara residents drum support for Oyo ADC candidates

The Ona-ara local government residents in Oyo State Friday trooped out in hundreds to receive candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) with pomp and pageantry. In a bid to show their support and affirmation for the serving House of Representative member and ADC candidate in Egbeda/Ona-ara Federal Constituency, Hon. Over 1m PVCs Unclaimed in Oyo, Says REC

The Oyo State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr. Mutiu Agboke, Thursday lamented that out of the 2,934, 107 registered voters in the state, only 1, 958, 069 have collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), leaving 1, 004, 577 cards uncollected. He also said the final list of governorship and House of Assembly candidates that will reflect the withdrawal, replacement and substitution of candidates done by the various political parties in the state will be published on January 31. Oyo Workers suspend strike.

Workers in the six tertiary institutions owned by Oyo State government have suspended their two-month old strike. The six institutions are: The Polytechnic, Ibadan; Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo; Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology; The Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa; The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki and College of Education, Lanlate. Olubadan Sues Ajimobi and 23 Others

The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, has sued Governor Abiola Ajimobi and 23 others for crowning 21 kings in Ibadan. The mass coronation happened on August 27. Also joined in the suit are: the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, the eight high chiefs who were elevated to kings as well as the baales who were conferred with kingship status.
