Donation To Health Sector: Oyo Governor Happy With MTN, Wants Others To Emulate Gesture

Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the Governor of Oyo State has expressed happiness with one of Nigeria’s pace setting telecoms operators, MTN over the donation the company made to the state’s health sector. Ajimobi also said that the state is crucial to the prosperity and economic well-being of the country, given its vast potential and strategic location. He hinged his position on what he called the contiguous location of the state to Lagos, touted as the economic nerve centre of the country, and as the gateway to the other parts of the country, especially the Northern part. MTN Fine: N50bn Payment not Concessionaire Fee – Shittu

The Minister of Communications, Mr. Adebayo Shittu, has declared that the N50 billion fine paid by the giant telecommunication company, MTN, was not a concessionaire fee but part of the actual fine it is supposed to pay to the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC). Shittu made this clarification on Monday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, while speaking as the Guest of Honour at the roundtable programme organized by the League of Veteran Journalists, Oyo State chapter.
