FG orders importation of 30 coaches, 300 wagons

Nigeria’s minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has announced that the federal government has ordered the importation of 30 coaches and 300 wagons for the Lagos-Ibadan railway project. Amaechi while speaking during the assessment of the ongoing work being done on the project by the China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) said these new coaches and wagons will increase the transportation of passengers and goods from Lagos to other states in the southwest region. FG Reaches Agreement With ASUU, Releases N15.4bn For Salary Shortfalls

The Federal Government has reached an agreement with members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to resolve the on-going industrial action. Addressing journalists on Monday evening after the meeting with the striking lecturers in Abuja, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, said the majority of their demands have been met including the release of N15.4 billion for payment of salary shortfalls. Minimum wage: FG budgets N160bn for civil servants’ salary increase

The Federal Government has budgeted a total of N160bn this year to take care of adjustments that may arise as a result of the planned increase in minimum wage. The amount is contained in the 2019 budget proposal which was submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the National Assembly. The 2019 budget has an estimate of N8.83tn made up of N4.04tn for recurrent expenditure, N2.03tn for capital expenditure and N2.14tn for debt servicing, among others. NNPC moves to curb DAPPMAN’s strike with 52-day fuel stock

Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has assured petroleum products consumers across the country not to engage in panic buying in the countdown to depot shutdown by Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN) from Monday. The NNPC, countering the impact of the shutdown said it holds 2.6billion litres of petrol and 90,000 metric tonnes of diesel. Fuel Scarcity: Oil Marketers begin nationwide strike

There are clear indications that the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN) may have directed its members to shut down all loading operations by midnight.
