ASUU threatens strike at University of Ibadan over pension, tax deductions

The University of Ibadan (UI) chapter of the national lecturers’ association has demanded an immediate reversal of alleged illegal pension and tax deductions. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of the institution, in a letter entitled “Illegal pension deductions and tax regime” signed by its Chairman, Dr. Deji Omole and addressed to the pro-chancellor/chairman of council, lamented the unilateral decision of the school management, warning that failure to reverse its actions may lead to anarchy. Oyo State council of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has said that its chairman, Alhaji Taofeek Oyerinde (Fele), was not the NURTW chief arrested with military and police uniforms contrary to rumour doing the round.
