A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Oyo State, Senator Lekan Balogun yesterday called for the immediate cancellation of the on-going collection of permanent voters’ cards and fixed it for another day. Senator Balogun, who made the declaration while addressing Journalists at his Alarere Palace yesterday in Ibadan further emphasised that with information reaching him throughout many Local governments in the State, All Progressive Congress, APC , in Oyo State had already rigged 2015 elections through what he called “ false collection of the cards”. According to the Senator, who is also the Osi Olubadan of Ibadan land:” There are so much fundamental rigging going on through the on-going collection of permanent voters’ cards in the state by the ruling APC government in Oyo State. I was duly informed that cards are being kept out of the supposed owners.

“I was told that APC held stakeholders meeting two days ago, where they discussed how to share the cards. The Officials of the INEC were nowhere to be found in many local governments today and where they appeared they came very late to the centre with little cards to the centres. One of my political daughters even told me in one of the polling unit at Lagelu LG, the INEC official went to a private room, where they are given the cards to members of APC.
“Not this alone, I was duly informed that APC brought people from neighbouring Osun and Ogun States in 120 buses to come for the registration and collection of the cards. So it is better for Professor Atairu Jega, the INEC Chairman to as matter of urgency cancel all the process in Oyo State to give room for fresh exercise.”
Also, the argument of Senator Balogun was confirmed by the Organising Secretary of PDP, Mrs. Wulamout Ibitoye; a PDP Chieftain Abegunde Ajayi and the Assistant Organising Secretary of the PDP Hon. Seyi Alape that led hundreds of PDP members, who came to the Alarere’s palace of Osi Olubadan of Ibadan land to protest the injustice.
It would be recalled that the Oyo State Government has declared Friday, August 15, public holiday in the state as the INEC declared 15th, 16th and 17th of August for collection of permanent voters’ cards.
