A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Oyo State, Chief Sunday Ogunlade has on Sunday in Ibadan said that the 45 elders and leaders of the party in the state support zoning of the governorship ticket to Ibadan zone for 2015 gubernatorial race to be able to defeat the All Progressives Congress, APC. Ogunlade, who spoke to whatsupibadan in Ibadan yesterday, further said that their proposed zoning was for the 2015 governorship election alone as the other zones of the state would later take their turns. He said that the proposal was without prejudice to any of the aspirants or areas like Oyo, Oke Ogun, Ogbomoso or Ibarapa. Ogunlade declared that “we agreed that in order for our party to defeat the incumbent governor who is from APC, our candidate must come from Ibadan.” The party chieftain called for the cooperation of all leaders of PDP, pointing out that top and committed leaders were unanimous on that position, which he believed was the only way to victory. He noted that he was confident that if that position was adopted, the defeat of APC was a foregone conclusion He commended the national and zonal leaderships of PDP for storming Osogbo on Saturday to boost the chances of their party on Saturday’s governorship election, stressing that the Osun electorate should vote wisely. He also assured President Goodluck Jonathan that the entire people of South-West were behind him, adding that he should ignore the destructive propaganda of the opposition.
