Pension Scam: Court Fixes Hearing For October

Former Oyo State head of service, Kudirat Iyabo Adeleke and 11 others currently facing trial over alleged N5.6 billion pension scam, will know their fate in October and November of this year. The accused are standing trial before Justice Adegboyega Gbolagunte of Oyo State High Court, sitting in Ibadan. The trial judge in a ruling on Thursday adjourned the hearing of the case for 24th October, 7th and 8th of November, 2014 consecutively. Gbolagunte, after consultations with counsel to both parties fixed the dates for commencement of definite hearing of the case brought against the 12 accused persons by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). While responding to the plea by the counsel to the 6th accused person (Adeleke), Richard Ogunwole (SAN), that she be given her international passport currently in the possession of the EFCC for her to travel out of the country for medical attention, Justice Gbolagunte advised the counsel to make a formal application. He said, “Since it is the normal process in court and also due to the insistence of the counsel to the EFCC, B.O. Agboje who is of the view that the 6th accused person should make a formal application for the release of her travel document as the court is a court of records.”
