OYO State Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Yinka Taiwo, has re-affirmed that he remains the authentic party chairman in the state, warning those parading themselves as ‘Yemetu faction’ against their alleged unholy romance with Accord Party. Taiwo disclosed this on Wednesday while addressing party supporters during the formal declaration of Dr Azeez Popoola Adeduntan as governorship aspirant at the party office, along Queen Elizabeth Road, Mokola Ibadan. The PDP chairman, who thanked the gubernatorial aspirant for choosing the party to realise his ambition in 2015, used the occasion to acknowledge the support the state chapter had been receiving from members. He said: “In the last few months, activities at the party secretariat have further confirmed that there is no other PDP elsewhere in the state. “Why can’t these people go to Yemetu today to declare their intention under our great party. When a meeting at the national level was held recently in Abuja, despite not being in Nigeria, I was invited through my mobile phone which I roamed.
“Those people making noise on the pages of newspaper are jesters. Oyo PDP is here and not in Yemetu. Those writing rubbish about our party are not in PDP again, they are holding talks with Ladoja, they are out to destroy our party. Soon, members’ registration will commence. I want our members to register.” In his message, Dr Adeduntan promised to win back the state for the party in 2015. The former Labour Party candidate in 2011 election in Oyo State said “God has always been on my side and if you support me to win the party’s ticket for next year’s election, I will send Ajimobi packing in 2015.”
