We may not win Oyo in 2015 if… —PDP
THE state executive committee of the Oyo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the people of the state may not give their mandate “to a party whose leadership have their interests entrenched and protected in a government they claim they want to expel from power.” The party’s state executive produced by the Olubadan Stadium Congress stated this in a statement by its publicity secretary, Mr Lukman Agboluaje and made available to newsmen in Ibadan, the state capital, on Sunday. It, therefore, called on the national chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mua’zu, to expedite action and “address the anomaly” by dissolving the current structure of the party in Oyo state and reconstituting same to reflect all the shades of interest in the party. “The present situation, whereby the party structure at all levels is surrendered to a cabal that actively conspired with the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to ensure the defeat of the PDP in 2011 elections is totally unacceptable to the mass of loyal party members, who have remained faithful to its cause and aspirations. “Those who are now parading themselves as leaders of the party have their wards and cronies in the ruling APC government in the state. It is an irony that people that are supposed to be made to face disciplinary action for gross anti-party activities are presently laying claim to the reins of the party in their grip. “It will be suicidal to go into elections with the present shredded state of the party. We are appealing to our party men and women to continue to exercise patience as we continue to explore the laid down internal dispute reconciliation mechanism of our great party,” Agboluaje said.
