FORMER Oyo State governor and national leader of the Accord party, Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja has charged the Oyo State government to conduct local government elections in the state. In his words, “we use this medium to tell the state government to conduct local government elections. The current crop of interim committee members isn’t doing anything for the people; they are not accountable to them because they were not elected by them.” He said this at the commissioning of the new party secretariat of the Ibadan North-West chapter of the Accord Party, which was donated by Chief Fajembola. Senator Ladoja thanked party members for remaining committed, loyal and dedicated to the cause of the party, charging them to maintain peace and urged them to end all form of bickering for the growth of the party. He also appreciated the Ibadan North-West chapter of the party led by Alhaji Sule Ajala Onifila for hosting the senatorial district meeting of the party earlier in the day. At the event were Hon. Adeyinka Adeniyi, State deputy chairman of the party, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, State PRO, Chief (Mrs) Funke Akinpelu, state woman leader and a host of other party executives in the state. On the entourage of Ladoja were Mr. Ayodele Adigun, Mr. K.K Adisa, Mr. Laide Lanihun, Hon Tayo Sarumi and many other party stalwarts. Two major decampees, together with thousands of their supporters, were also welcomed into the party. They are former state NLC Chairman, Comrade Oloyede Alamu and Hon Sofela both from the APC. A minute silence was also observed in memory of Hon. Sunday Ademola Alalade, Senator Ladoja’s running mate in the 2011 elections, who died a year ago.
