Rep Calls for Peace as Christians Mark Easter
A member of the House of Representatives, Olayemi Busari, on Sunday advised Nigerians to embrace peace and unity for the nation’s continued advancement. Busari, a member of the Accord Party, representing Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency of Oyo State in the House, made the call in an interview in Lagos. He said that there was a need for all Nigerians, particularly Christians, to live exemplary lives, stressing that the death of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary at Easter time, was a sign of humility and sacrifice. The legislator advised citizens to use the Easter celebration to preach peace and unity. He said that the sacrifice made by Jesus Christ was to save the world and bring hope to the hopeless. Busari enjoined Nigerians to emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ, which he said, were anchored on forgiveness and willingness. He urged everyone to join hands to pray for peace, progress and unity of the country. The legislator urged Nigerians to remain resolute in their faith in the power of prayers as the relieving balm for all challenges. “ We draw inspiration from the knowledge that the Almighty God, who watches over our land, shall endow us with the power of victory. “ Especially as we confront several challenges plaguing our dear country in recent time,” he said. Busari, however, called on Nigerians not to despair in their belief in one Nigeria as the only way forward. The legislator urged every Nigerian to put the interest of the nation first in all their endeavours. “ Let us resolve to make the necessary sacrifices for the common good, so as to guarantee the happiness of our people,” he added.
