Court restrains Oyo govt from trespassing on property

In Oyo State High Court, sitting in Ibadan, has ordered the state government to stay away from a property belonging to an accounting firm, Oke Abayomi & Co., pending the determination of a suit on the land. The property is situated at the Ring Road GRA in Ibadan, the state capital. Justice B. A. Taiwo of Court 12 gave the order yesterday as applied for by counsel to the firm, Niyi Ogunjimi. Ogunjimi told the court that despite filing a suit to challenge the alleged illegal revocation of the property’s Certificate of Occupancy (Cof O), the government went ahead to demolish it without waiting for the court to determine the merit of the case. The case was adjourned till January 22.
