Adebayo Alao Akala declares for Oyo 2019 Guber race
Former governor of Oyo state, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akaka, has expressed his intention to contest the state governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Nigerian Tribune reports that Alao-Akala stated this while receiving letters of offer to contest presented to him by the chairman of Akala support group, Fola Akinosun, at his Bodija residence, Ibadan, on Wednesday, July 3.
Alao-Akala said:“With all sense of responsibility and with a view to consolidating and surpass the achievements recorded so far by Governor Abiola Ajimobi towards making Oyo state better, I, Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, having communed with my creator, the Almighty God, my immediate family and due consultations with the critical stakeholders, do solemnly offer myself to contest for the governorship seat of Oyo state come 2019. So, help me, God.”
Meanwhile, various online media have previously reported that a faction of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state, a former governor of Osun state, Olagusoye Oyinlola, and the former Ondo state governor, Olusegun Mimiko, on Monday, June 18, in a separate meetings with the former governor of Oyo state, Senator Rasidi Ladoja, discussed possible merger of opposition parties in the southwest states.
It was reported that the meetings were not unconnected with the permutation of the major opposition parties in the southwest ahead of the 2019 general elections.
