NURHI donates vehicle, generator to IbSW LG, OSPHDA
IN order to improve family planning services at the grassroots level in Oyo State, the Nigerian Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (NURHI) has donated a vehicle to the Ibadan South-West Local Government Area and a generator to the Oyo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (OSPHDA). Speaking during the handover, the Project Director of NURHI, Dr (Mrs) Mojisola Odeku, commended Ibadan South-West Local Government Area for its efforts in promoting family planning in the locality.
“In the area of family planning, this local government has a budget for the programme, and this is commendable. I, therefore, want to say that Ibadan South-West Local Government Area is a testament to the fact that things can work in Nigeria, and that is why we have donated the vehicle to the council.
“We are donating a generator to the Oyo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency to aid workings in its family planning unit. I know that these donations will spur other councils and agencies to give their best to the promotion of family planning in the state,” Dr Odeku said.
In her brief remarks on the occasion, the Oyo State Team Leader of NURHI, Mrs Stella Akinso, sought the continued support of all government agencies and councils in the promotion and dissemination of family planning messages in the state.
While thanking NURHI for the gesture, the chairman of Ibadan South-West Local Government Area, Rafiu Folarin, promised that the council would continue to support family planning activities in the area.
“We all know that family planning has a lot of benefits, and it is the responsibility of concerned organisations to take the message to the people; that is what NURHI is doing. On our part, we will not relent in doing what is necessary as regards supporting family planning at the grass-roots level,” the local government boss said.
