Rianna shade Anderson, popularly known as ‘Shade awesome’ stormed the ibadan entertainment scene with a bang and a presence that makes her stand out anywhere she goes. People have been asking, who is this Shade Awesome? The very pretty, sultry UK born and graduate of Music from a London University is a song writer and singer; In an exclusive interview with Whatsupibadan, she talked about her career, fashion, family and all.

Who is Shade awesome?

Rianna Shade Anderson is from Essex in the United Kingdom. I am mixed race; half- Nigerian and half- English. I am the 2nd born of an amazing family. Was born and bred in Chelmsford United Kingdom. I attended Havering College, where I studied music.

What was growing up like?

It’s was fun, I used to go to dance class and drama classes and singing lessons. I grew up with a lot of love; myself and my brother would play football in the garden, and I go for bike rides with my family. During the holidays, we would travel to France by car and travel to different beaches in the UK. It was fun. I had a really interesting upbringing.

How early did you go into music?

I was told that I started singing at the age of 4. I although started music classes at the age of 10 in school.

Why did you move back to Nigeria?

Well, I did because my family lives here and to also pursue my music career.

Tell us some of your feats as a song writer in the UK, and the inspiration behind it.

There was a time my eldest brother entered one of my songs into an online competition in the UK and I came third. Song writing depends on my mood at the time, and also on how the beat makes me feel.

Your mixtape ‘The mix’  featured some notable Nigerian artistes and the foreign singer – Eve. What inspired it?

I wanted to show that I was capable of covering any kind of song. So I decided to put snippets on one whole track for people to listen to, and a lot of people love it.

Your single ‘Bosesemi’ was released in May, what has been the response from your fans?

I would say that single came with a lot of mixed response. The older generation seemed to like it more. But it’s been enjoying good air plays.

You stormed the ibadan entertainment scene with an amazing presence, and you are often seen in social circles, how do you unwind?

Relaxing is something I enjoy and it comes natural to me. However, I sometimes like to unwind with a glass of wine and some shisha. I enjoy shopping, eating out, going to the cinema, and swimming as a hobby. My favourite food is BBQ chicken but here in Nigeria my favourite swallow is semolina with ewedu.

Waoh! That’s great! So Shade, If not music, what would you be doing?

I would either be a fashion designer or a makeup artist.

How do you handle attention from male fans and other male folks in the industry?

I am used to the attention but I still get very embarrassed sometimes, but it’s all fun.

Do you have an embarrassing moment you would like to share with us?

I was outside the studio one day and the seatbelt got caught on my top and my top fell down and I didn’t realise it, and no one told me. I think they were too shy to say anything but I saw a few people blushing.*laughs*

Recently we heared that You are under a new Management, tell us about it.

Currently, the CEO of TAT entertainment stands in as my manager. It’s been going on very well and I am enjoying every minute of it.

Any role models?

Yes. I love Beyoncé because she has the whole package, Jessie j because her voice is outstanding and wiz kid because I would love to perform to such a large crowd like he does, it’s amazing.

Let’s talk about your sense of fashion, a lot of people think you reveal too much.

I wear what I feel sexy and comfortable in and what looks good on me. Hey! If you’ve got it, flaunt it!
People say you have a cute kid, are you married?

Yes I have two beautiful children. No I’m not married, and my two children are my hubby.

What do you think of the entertainment scene in Ibadan?

It’s really good, growing and expanding.  All the shows I’ve been to have been really fun and I hope to attend more.

Where do you see yourself in Five years?

Five years from now, by God’s grace, I hope to be the biggest female artiste in Nigeria.

Do you have any Nigeria artiste you look forward to working with?

I would love to work with Olamide, Patoranking, Wizkid, Davido and Yemi Alade.

Anything to expect from you soon? And is there any single you are working on at the moment?

My new hit single “Nautica” will be released on Friday but as we speak it’s already with Beat 97.9 FM.
