CAN WE MEET YOU?
My name is Adedeji Oluwasegunfunmi Oluwafemi. I’m from Osun state. I grew up in the East, Enugu to be precise and spent part of my growing years in Ghana. I came in to Ibadan in 2005. I’m the sixth child of my parents.
YOU ARE THE FACE BEHIND EXCLUSIVEICARE TV, HOW DID YOU START?
I’m a photographer. It started with my love for the pictures and everything that has to do with memories. I am creative and love to document things. I picked up the camera and went through the training on my own. Although I followed a lot of photographers online, how they work and i watch their videos. And I have a couple of friends around too so I was able to learn pretty fast and when people started seeing my pictures, they would ask why I wasn’t converting it into money. And that was how I started. I started with Exclusive media. It was then a photography brand before growing into an online TV.
YOU ARE FOLLOWING IN THE LANE OF PULSE NG AND KRAKS TV, WHY IBADAN?
Well, Ibadan has a lot of potentials. The city is big. It is my base, I live here. And the concept behind the online TV is giving back to the society. Being in a place, discovering what is missing and fixing the need if you have the ability to, is what I did.
WHAT’S YOUR VIEW OF THE ENTERTAINMENT SCENE IN IBADAN?
I’m a church boy, let’s start with that, so I might not be able to give you into details about entertainment in Ibadan, but it is a growing. It is unlike those days when we have few artistes in the city. Nowadays, the competition is on, everyone is on top of their game. They go on tours, the people know them, sing their songs, I’ll say entertainment is growing in Ibadan.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE RESPONSE OF PEOPLE TO THE ONLINE TV?
Oh well, they don’t have a choice. We would keep coming up with different concepts that will make them keep falling in love with us.
TELL US WHAT YOUR AVERAGE DAY LOOKS LIKE
Most time if I’m not with my camera, I’ll be behind the computer editing. Some evening though, I hang out with friends, and I drink origin. I enjoy watching movies; I watch a lot of videos.
TELL US ABOUT FAMILY?
I got married in 2010, and it has been God. Marrying someone you love makes the whole story interesting. It has been challenging and fun in all.
COMMENT ON HOW PEOPLE PAY FOR ENTERTAINMENT SERVICES IN IBADAN.
The honest truth is they don’t pay. One thing I just love telling people is to always make your profession be your passion. That way, you are happy doing what you love, even when you are not being paid for it. Not forgetting to always have a backup plan. When we started, we did a lot of free jobs and all but now, we don’t. Although we cover certain events to add to our archive; at least if Exclusiveicare TV doesn’t give me money this week, Exclusive Media will, that is my Photography brand, so the bottom line is something is bringing money.
YOU HAVE A CAMPAIGN COMING UP- SAPPHIRE’S DIARY, TELL US LITTLE ABOUT IT/ TELL US ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN YOU HAVE COMING UP- SAPPHIRE’S DIARY, WHAT IS THE CONCEPT BEHIND IT?
It’s a project that started years back when I was in J. S. S. 2. I had this friend of mine whose name was Nkechi. She was raped and died. She killed herself cos she couldn’t stand the stigma and shame. Since then it birth in me the need to run a campaign against rape, emotional abuse, violence against women and all. I started with a foundation- the Exclusiveicare Foundation. We produce notebooks, and uniforms for less privileged students, Sapphire’s diary is an initiative, a campaign against rape. Many people are dying in silence, victims who are dying inside. We are trying to change people’s mindset about rape, and rape victims. If the government is not doing it, I really believe we all can stand together to support this course. Women and the female gender are our mothers, and very fragile. We need to care for them.
WHEN IS THIS EVENT COMING UP?
It’s starting next month. We will start with a rape campaign walk here in Ibadan. And the next is in Lagos. So, we are asking individuals, organizations, businesses, people generally to come out and support us.
WHERE DO YOU SEE EXCLUSIVEICARE TV IN THE NEXT FIVE YEARS?
Let me put it this way, where Exclusiveicare TV is today, i never thought of it. It’s been God. And where it will be in the next 5 years, it will be amazing, it will still be God. He holds the future.
