The Oyo State chapter of the League of Veteran Journalists  has asked politicians to see the elections as a game in which winners and losers must emerge and not a do-or-die affair. In a statement signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Kola Animasaun and Secretary, Mr. Wale Adelowo, the league implored the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be an unbiased umpire especially at the collation centres. The statement read: “The League calls on security agencies to shun overzealousness and show high sense of responsibility in the discharge of their duties.”  They also advised the media to adhere strictly to the ethics of the profession by being objective and avoiding sensationalism and unwarranted embellishments in their stories, while also imploring both candidates and the electorate to conduct themselves responsibly.
